Brooklyn's Marching Band

Our Guarantee

Students are immersed in a world-class music program and are guaranteed a music education that will allow them to pursue an education at a variety of colleges and universities.

In order to do this, the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute has developed tried and true instruction methods. Through the Institute’s carefully designed process, students learn fundamentals such as forming of the embouchure, producing notes, maintaining proper instrument care, studying scales, mastering sight reading while also being introduced to a variety of musical genres. With this system, students are prepared to transition from the Institute, positioned for leadership roles upon graduation.

Ultimately, we do not want our students to leave the Institute and live the life of the “starving artist.” Instead, our long-term goal is for our students to find success in corporate careers and entrepreneurship.

Our Philharmonic Approach

Ensuring Bright Futures

The Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute is a band company. Mirroring the structure and operation of the Philharmonic Orchestra, it is our intention to give back to black and minority communities in the form of competitive, structured ensembles.

Our ensembles feature a corporate structure with which students are able to engage in. Students hold positions such as Drum Major, Department Manager, and Drill Sergeant while the band staff holds the esteemed title of the Dream Team.

We believe that the Institute can be the first black philharmonic youth program, featuring a marching band.  We can accomplish this goal by creating and maintaining a high quality, corporate immersion model for which students and their families can experiment with while attending cultural celebrations and performances on behalf of the marching bands, dance lines, and concert bands that we teach.
